COVID-19 GUIDELINES

The health and safety of our staff and attendees is of the utmost importance to us. With the exciting return to live events, Expotrade is ensuring COVID appropriate hygiene and safety practices are in place and strictly adhered to. By following these important initiatives we can continue rolling out the safe, successful events we are so known for.

We encourage all attendees to review the MCEC VenueSafe Plan for further details on the venue’s COVID safety measures and conditions of entry.

Attendees must not enter the venue if:

  • They are an active coronavirus (COVID-19) case.
  • They are demonstrating any of the following symptoms, however mild: fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, and loss of sense of smell or taste. They must get tested immediately and quarantine at home until they receive their test results.
  • In the last 14 days they have travelled from overseas or a coronavirus (COVID-19) hotspot.
  • They have been in close contact with a person who is diagnosed as coronavirus (COVID-19) positive.

1. Physical Distancing

  • The venue is now operating at 100% capacity. Attendees are encouraged to maintain the recommended 1.5m distance from others where practical.
  • Attendees are encouraged to stay within their allocated spaces or seats where practical. All physical contact, including handshakes and the exchange of printed materials, is strongly discouraged. Please instead greet from a distance, and exchange any details or materials digitally.
  • Clearly marked entry and exit signs for smooth, properly distanced traffic flow through the venue. Signage is placed throughout the venue to remind attendees to keep their distance.
  • Socially-distanced queuing for food and beverage stations in the networking lounge.

2. Hygiene and cleaning

  • Face masks are to be worn in line with Victorian restrictions. We ask attendees to uphold personal hygiene by washing and sanitising hands regularly, refraining from touching surfaces when possible and maintaining cough/sneeze etiquette.
  • Hygiene stations are placed at entrances and throughout the venue to enable proper hand hygiene of staff and attendees.
  • Food and beverage service will be as contactless as possible, with attendants on hand to assist with serving and limit any touching of food, surfaces and utensils.
  • Enhanced cleaning measures will be undertaken across the venue before, during and after the event. This includes thoroughly sanitizing surfaces, with a particular focus on high-traffic areas around registration and the networking lounge.

3. Record keeping

  • All attendees will receive an email prior to the event detailing the venue’s conditions of entry and any relevant updates. For contact tracing purposes, all attendees are required to check in upon arrival via the Victorian Government QR code available onsite. We encourage all delegates to download the Service Victoria app to make the check in process as smooth as possible – click here to download for Apple or Google Play devices.
  • To ensure accurate record keeping, each and every attendee will need their own badge and cannot exchange or share them with other guests.
  • All badges are equipped with QR codes and are to be scanned at registration. A full attendee list will be shared with the venue along with contact information as a precautionary measure.

4. Staff training on hygiene protocols

  • All staff and volunteers attending the event are properly educated on physical distancing, good personal hygiene and staying home from work when unwell.

5. Responding to an incident of COVID-19

  • In the unlikely case that an attendee is suspected to have COVID-19 during an event, we have a series of measures in place to respond quickly and with minimal risk to others. This includes arranging immediate safe, private transport to the attendee’s home or to a safe and isolated area if home is unreachable. Transport will be at the individual’s expense.
  • Other attendees will be immediately notified of the risk and directed to the nearest testing facility.
  • Expotrade is committed to supporting any public health investigations that would ensue as a result of the above. We are fully ready to support officials in their quest to accurately and efficiently gather information regarding a COVID incident.
  • In the unlikely case that we must cancel an event ahead of time due to an incident of COVID 19, all attendees will be notified immediately and advised of whether or not they have been placed at any risk. Further directions as to rescheduling or otherwise will be provided.
